【摘要】:Thisguideprovidesinformationandguidelinesforconsiderationbythedesignerorapplicatorofajointseal.Itexplainsthepropertiesandfunctionsofvariousmaterials,suchassealant,sealantbacking,andprimer,amongothers;and,proceduressuchas,substratecleaningandpriming,andinstallationofthecomponentsofasealedjoint.Itpresentsguidelinesfortheuseandapplicationofthevariousmaterials,designofasealantjointforaspecificapplication,andenvironmentalconditionsandeffectsthatareknowntodetrimentallyaffectasealantjoint.Theinformationandguidelinesarealsousefulforthosethatsupplyaccessoriestothesealantindustryandforthosethatinstallsealantsandaccessorymaterialsassociatedwithsealantuse.Inadditiontothedesignandinstallationdatainthisguide,consultthesealantmanufactureraboutapplicationsforitsproductsandtheirproperuseandinstallation.Consideringtherangeofpropertiesofcommerciallyavailablesealants,thevarietyofjointdesignspossible,andthemanyconditionsofuse,theinformationcontainedhereinisgeneralinnature.Toassisttheuseroftheguideinlocatingspecificinformation,adetailedlistingofguidenumberedsectionsandtheirdescriptorsareincludedinAppendixX2.1.1Thisguidedescribestheuseofacoldliquid-appliedsealantforjointsealingapplications.Includingjointsonbuildingsandrelatedadjacentareas,suchasplazas,decks,andpavementsforvehicularorpedestrianuse,andtypesofconstructionotherthanhighwaysandairfieldpavementsandbridges.Informationinthisguideisprimarilyapplicabletoasingleandmulti-component,coldliquid-appliedjointsealantandsecondarilytoaprecuredsealantwhenusedwithaproperlypreparedjointopeningandsubstratesurfaces.1.2Anelastomericornon-elastomericsealantdescribedbythisguideshouldmeettherequirementsofSpecificationC834,C920,orC1311.1.3Thisguidedoesnotprovideinformationorguidelinesfortheuseofasealantinastructuralsealantglazingapplication.GuideC1401shouldbeconsultedforthisinformation.Additionally,italsodoesnotprovideinformationorguidelinesfortheuseofasealantinaninsulatingglassunitedgesealusedinastructuralsealantglazingapplication.GuideC1249shouldbeconsultedforthisinformation.1.4PracticeC919shouldbeconsultedforinformationandguidelinesfortheuseofasealantinanapplicationwhereanacousticjointsealisrequired.1.5Thisguidealsodoesnotprovideinformationrelativetothenumeroustypesofsealantthatareavailablenorspecificgenericsealantproperties,suchashardness,tack-freetime,orcuringprocess,amongothers.GuideC1299shouldbeconsultedforinformationongenerallyacceptedcomparativevaluesforthecharacteristicsandpropertiesofthemorecommongenerictypesofliquid-appliedsealant.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesisareprovidedforinformationonly.1.7TheCommitteewithjurisdictionforthisstandardisnotawareofanycomparablestandardspublishedbyotherorganizations.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpractices,anddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.9Thecommitteewithjurisdictionoverthisstandardisnotawareofanycomparablestandardspublishedbyotherorganizations.
